How Fortress Home Improvements collects, uses and looks after your personal information.
Who we are
Fortress Home Improvements is a roofing and roofline business working across the West Midlands and Worcestershire. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it is used.

The information we collect
When you send an enquiry or ask for a call-back through a form on this website, we collect your name, phone number, postcode and, where the form asks for it, your email address, together with what you tell us about the job (for example the type of problem, how urgent it is and any message you add).
When you call, text or message us, we keep a note of your number, your name and what you need so we can deal with your enquiry.
If we quote for or carry out work, we also hold the address of the property, the details of the job, quotes, invoices and payment records, and photographs of your roof taken before, during and after the work.
When you arrive from an online advert, our call-back form records the advert click reference added to the web address (such as the Google click identifier) and the campaign it came from. This tells us which adverts lead to enquiries. It does not tell us anything else about you.
When you visit the website, our hosting provider automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and working. See the cookies section below for information collected by cookies.
How we use your information and our legal reasons
- To reply to your enquiry, visit, quote and carry out the work: because you have asked us to and it is needed to enter into or perform a contract with you.
- To keep records of the work, invoices and payments: to meet our legal obligations (for example tax and accounting rules) and to handle any guarantee claim.
- To deal with guarantees, complaints and disputes: our legitimate interest in standing behind our work and protecting our business.
- To measure which adverts lead to enquiries: our legitimate interest in spending our advertising budget sensibly. Where this relies on cookies, we ask for your consent first.
- To keep the website secure and working: our legitimate interest in running a safe website.
We will not send you marketing messages unless you have agreed to receive them, and you can ask us to stop at any time.
Photos of our work
We photograph roofs before, during and after jobs so you can see the problem and the finished work. We may also use some of these photos on our website and social media to show examples of our work. When we do, we crop or blur anything that could identify you or your home, such as house numbers, car number plates, street names and people. If you would rather we did not use photos of your property, tell us and we will remove them.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We only share it where needed with:
- the company that hosts this website and our email;
- Google, if you arrived from a Google advert, so we can measure how well our adverts work;
- suppliers, subcontractors or scaffolders working on your job, who only receive what they need to do it;
- our accountant, insurers and professional advisers;
- your insurer, if you ask us to provide photos or a report for a claim;
- the police, HMRC or other authorities where the law requires it.
Transfers outside the UK
Some of the services we use, such as Google, may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens, it is protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK-US data bridge or approved contract terms.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Customer records, quotes, invoices and job photos: 6 years after the work is finished, or until the end of any guarantee period if that is longer.
- Website server logs: a short period, usually no more than 30 days, unless needed to investigate a security problem.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, where we no longer need to keep it;
- object to, or ask us to limit, how we use your information;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it;
- ask us to transfer information you gave us to another organisation.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
